SPECIALIST CARS, DUNDEE ?

Featured Replies

Just interested to see if anyone has used Dundee's new Skoda frachise "Specialist Cars" for sales, parts or especialy servicing. What did you think of them ???????

Ta

Bought a rubber bootliner when I gost my lease Superb in April. parts guys seemed to know what they were talking about, item was in stock and price was ok

Also spoke to one of the sales guys when SWMBO was looking for another car- ended up with a Yaris, but not from Dundee Toyota dealer who were muppets. Went to Edinburgh for this.

No experience of service, but if you look at the specialist cars Abderdeen section on dealers part of this site there are very mixed reciews about speciatlist cars as a company.

I would recommend that you see Tom at specialist cars Aberdeen to sell you your next skoda

Thompson and Potter at Burrleton [blairgowrie] may be nearer and is one of the best - highly recommended.

General attitude to customers at Specialist cars is much better than at Thompson & Potters.

Why are they not yet listed under Scottish dealer reviews?

I'd doubt that having read lots of the comments elsewhere in the dealers section on here! Thompson & Potter get glowing reviews from plenty of satisfied customers it seems, while specialist cars seem to have plenty of folks thinking they have a "we're doing you a favour looking at your car" attitude from what I can see.

I've used Victoria Garage in Maud, Aberdeenshire for the past 3 years for servicing and cannot recommend them highly enough! Superb customer service and service manager Danny Taylor has often gone the extra mile and is an absolute star. I'm collecting my new Octavia from Ingrams in Ayr on Saturday - Neil Paterson offered me £1300 more for my 3yo vRS Estate than Inverness Skoda did & Specialist Cars Aberdeen wouldn't even offer on a deal! "I'd rip his arm oot o his socket" was what they told me! lol

Thanks for your replies,

Was just looking to see how anyone else had got on with Specialist Cars.

I used them for a service recently and have ended up putting in a big complaint to Skoda about the experience. The reception staff were friendly enough and the parts guy was great but I had a couple of issues with the standard of the actual service and time keeping plus my car ended up with unaccounted miles on the clock, when mentioned to service manager he promised to look into it but I never heard back. Complained to Skoda, got a phone call from most unhappy customer service manager who basically called me a lier, we had big fall out and i'll never use them again.

T&P can be a bit laid back. But generally speaking they're good.

I phoned up specialist Dundee for a cambelt/pump quote and they wanted £550 which was £150 more than VW are doing them fixed for.

Father-in-law has bought a few Audis from Specialist Aberdeen and likes them.

I assume specialist Skoda Dundee has picked up a few ex Norman Fairweather staff. NF didn't have that bad a rep.

Not sure about that, I knew a few of the guys at Fairweather including Norman and the sales and service managers and didn't recognise anyone at Specialist Cars.

Very interesting observation. I have used "speccy" cars in Dundee twice now for warranty work and both times they have been over the top helpful, they even washed my car without noticing that it was already spotless!!. I have bought several parts and accessories from the parts department and I cannot fault them either. I will be keeping a close watch on them when I put my car in for a service mid October!!

I am prepared to put the poor reports about the Aberdeen branch to one side and allow "Dundee" to win or lose their own reputation. When T&P had it all their own way when there was no dealership within 40 miles of them there was a distinct "take it or leave it" attitude and trade in price they offered me was awful with no room to haggle.

To be fair I had a seperate dealing with the parts guy, a young chap whose name I forget and he was most helpfull, the reception staff were fine also. It was some aspects of the service and my vehicle care I had issues with. Had these issues been addressed properly it would have all been forgotten but the way in which they were dealt with was poor to say the least, never had a service manager phone me at home to fall out before, it would be unfair of me to comment more online as there are 2 sides to every story and that's only my opinion, I'm quite sure the service manager feels the same about me.
