Cruise Control Retrofit Help

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have recently replaced my Mk1 with a Mk2 vRS and I want to get cruise control sorted. I know that I can get it done for about £125 but I would quite like the satisfaction of doing it myself. I have done some reading but I am still a bit confused about one or two issues and was hoping the forum could help.

1. As fas as I can tell all that needs to be done is to replace the standard stalk with the cruise stalk (no wiring to worry about unlike the Mk1) and then enable cruise in the ECU. Have I got this correct?

2. I obviously need some way of enabling cruise control. I have had a look at the RossTech website but there are quite a few options (shareware, lite, full etc..). What is the cheapest product on offer from these guys that would enable to activate the cruise control feature? Can anyone recommend a suitable interface cable - there are lots on eBay but which one? My car is an 06 plate 2.0 TFSI vRS.

3. Can anybody point me in the direction of a good supplier for the part, preferably not eBay.

4. Is there anybody anywhere near Bromsgrove (South Brum) who has done this and wouldn't mind giving me a hand in exchange for a bottle of whatever you drink?

Cheers

Rich

Done loads, may need a controller for that age car, but more than likely not.

Got a spare stalk so if you want to visit me I can do it for £50.

I can't find a stalk for that price so that sounds great. Where in Worcestershire are you? Cheers, Rich.

Is it possible to retro-fit cruise control to any Mk2? I have a FL 1.6MPI and would be interested in doing this, but obviously only if it's actually possible! Is it just a case of installing the stalk and a software change to the ECU?

Thanks!

It's been retrofitted to my Mk2 FL, Speak to your dealer/garage.

James - how much did it cost you, if you don't mind, and was that at a Skoda dealer?

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay responding I've been working away.

£160 inc vat at a VW group specialist.

Also should mention there was a little issue at first getting the correct part, as the supplier sent a module that claimed to be for the Octavia/Suberb, however was only the single arm where my Octavia used a complete assembly.
