Been looking for a VAG air compressor without luck so far; outbid on those that have come up.

Brill, thanks TP for the line.

Am I right in saying I would need the two "wooden slaps" to support the new floor?

On the note of the compressors, I remember that Maplin have compressors on sale for around £10, obviously not Skoda original equipments!

TP, we use one of these; http://www.amazon.co...2291228&sr=8-2. Use it for the caravan as well.

Fred

Many thanks for the link

had been looking for the VAG oem one as it will fit perfectly in the tool box but if all else fails that looks a good option :)

Regards,

TP

Gone!! Too late.

Well managed to pick up a genuine VAG tyre air compressor from fleebay. Appears to have come from a VW Transporter van :wonder: (platform code 7H0 part number) and be of better quality than the blue box ones I've seen fitted to some Skoda's. Quite surprised to find the important part of the dial lights up for nocturnal use and theres a handy deflate button as well.

Also came with a 700ml can of gunk and a polystyrene tray from a transporter tool box. Looks like it's not actually been fitted and the compressor has a WK01/11 date stamp. Total cost £26.90 inc first class delivery, which I think is very good for this package.

If anybody else is after one here's the My link

Oh anybody know what might have fitted in the odd shaped cut out on the casing at one time :wonder:

Hi Tim

thats a bargain  I think the can of gunk is more than the total you paid.

The compressor looks good quality with the light and deflate button, almost tempted to get one to replace my blue one :wonder:

Thanks TP - I took a chance on the size and it's just arrived - Turned out to be 125/70R/16 - 96M so a bit small but I think that's an advantage as I have got it standing up in the boot and it doesn't take up too much room. Load rating is OK but I expect it will trigger the TPM. Well pleased thanks again for the tip.

Once you've changed the wheels and then set the TPM it won't trigger no matter what the relative difference is between wheel sizes since you've just told it the pressures are OK! And remember the TPM only measures wheel rotation speed via the ABS sensors. So even if one will spin faster now than the rest you have told it that it is OK so you should be left in peace. So I think you will be OK.

This is a MUCH better solution than the useless tyre-ruining gunk you get as standard. I'd rather have a biscuit wheel like this and travel slowly but get there at least than be stranded in the middle of nowhere and be forced to buy a new tyre.

Thanks for the tip on the TPM .Couldn't agree more regarding "MUCH better solution" and what a bargain at £40.00 including tool kit emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Hi Lowen,

pleased to hear it's just what you needed  thought it might be of interest to someone in the Monster Club. I've gone about it the other way round, have the oem spare as standard but bought the compressor and gunk as an afterthought :D

Regards,

TP
