What tyres and do they make a difference ?

Featured Replies

When I bought my Superb Mk II (April 2009) I took out a maintenance and tyre "deal". The car was origiinally shod with Dunlops I believe and the first Winter 2009/10 I managed to get around fairy well. During 2010 I had to change them (at about 18K miles) and due to the maintenance contract choices (I had no choice in the matter) it was re-shod with Continentals. I noticed an immediate difference in ride and noise and as for abililty to get around in winter 2010/11 it was a nightmare. Any opinions out their as to what works for you. By the way the Conti's are already 24K miles old with quite a lot of wear still to go, so it is obvious why they were the replacement tyre.

What Continental model were fitted?

As for other choices, it really depends on what type of driver you are and what you expect from the tyre. Also what you (or the maintenance contract company more crucially!) expect in terms of tyre wear and longevity.

Also discuss with the contract company what choices should be made available to you next time around.
