Fog lamp fix

Featured Replies

December last year I posted about how the fog lamps in my 56 Fabia VRS had stopped working. Started with not being able to switch them off then ended up with them not switching on at all. I get no indication on the dash board that they have been switched on either and the rear fogs work just fine. I did get them checked when the car went in to get its timing belt changed and was told that the bulbs were not the cause it was something else, garages stating what we already knew since 1963 huh! Anyway typical speil it ain;t covered by warranty and would needed to go in to be investigated at whatever it would cost per hour to do that.

Anyway didn't bother me that much getting it solved so left it however I have decided that right this minute is the time to get it fixed.

So a little info would be very nice

1). Where is the relay for the fog lamps located for this vehicle, how easy is it to get too?

2). What is the part number and approx price of the light switch mechanism

Since it ain't the bulb the next logical things it could be are relay and switch so seems as good a place as any to start.

AFAIK there is no relay, it is fed directly by the switch. If the fuse is fine the next thing to do IMO is to carefully bridge the fog feed with the fog output (thereby bypassing the switch) and see if that brings them on. If it does you just need to swap the switch.

Hmmm so no relay, so it is either the switch, easy enough to swap or something a lot harder and more annoying to track down.

I can check the fuse but I dismissed this as the cause because the issues started with me not being able to turn the fogs off whenever I put my dipped mains on but I'll give it a wee check.
