Octavia vrs exhaust

Featured Replies

I'm looking to get a new turbo back exhaust and was wondering a couple of things and am hoping to rack a few brains.

What size turbo pipe should I go for (taking in mind that I'm going to remap and I have a carbonio on it) also might put a silicone TIP in too.

Any particular make is best?

And what cat should I go for? 200 or 100 cel?

Also how much is it likely to cost?

Thanks in advance :)

2.5" or 3" downpipe. 3" is OTT on a standard turbo'd vRS IMO. (Jetex make a good 2.5" downpipe)

100 cell cat will give the best performance, but nearly everyone goes for the 200 as it's easier with emissions.

Piper seem to make a good system (2.5" cat back). From experience I'd avoid Milltek - overpriced and they fall apart every 6 months!!!!

Samco TIP and carbonio with a good turbo back system will make for a real nice drive. Make sure you get a decent recirculating dump valve (forge 007p) fitted before any remaps are done!

To get the best out of your engine you'd need a FMIC (Forge) too.

Cheers Steevie.

FMIC is a bit out of range at the mo. The forge valve, it's not some stupid noisy thing is it? Want a nice sound from my engine. Not some stupid loud tssshhhhhhhhh every time I let off the accelerator! I want it to recirculate rather than dumping out.

How hard is it to get the 100cel Through an MOT? is there anything that can help or that you have to do?

Any experience with powerflow systems?

The Forge is a recirculating valve - No silly badboy noises!!! (I cant stand that either!!!!)

100cel cats have to be really hot to get through the gas test. Mine has always got through without any problems (last 4-5 years), but I know some have really struggled in the past.

Powerflow are a good choice!!!

Ah. Very good.

Now the forge dv..... Although I haven't mapped the car yet, is it worth getting the yellow spring one or the blue?

Spoke to a guy for powerflow. Recons turboback is 399 plus 200 for the cat. Whatever size pipe and tone for the exhaust.

That seems an ok'ish price for a complete down pipe, cat and system. Stainless steel I presume.

2.5" straight through with a single silencer at the back will be nice!!

Who ever maps it will be able to determine what spring is fitted to your DV.

Steve

the forge 007p comes with a green spring normally for the 1.8t and some upgrade to the yellow for the remap. but do it before you have it remapped so that can be taken into account.

personally I stuck with the green as its smoother. wouldnt reccomend the blue tho for the k03s, thats really for the BT lot id say.

green spring with a spacer or 2.

or even get the compbrake one as it the same as the 007p just cheaper.

Cheers Billy,

I've ordered the 007p with the yellow spring as I'm gonna get the map done pretty soon.

Also ordered the forge tip as well.

Just the exhaust to do and I'll be pretty happy. :)

Notgonna go down the route of bt's. Seems too much change to a standard engine. Becomes too much less like the car it originally was.

yea mate, for the BT you need to basically have a new engine suspention brakes steering rack gearbox.

I was not going to do it but tbh I now have gone as far as pos with the suspention and in the handling department, just needs a bigget turbo but not too big.

Stop with the Ideas!

I need to get back to work lol

What zorst you going for?

is there any custom ones up your way? I had mine made by Longlife which has lifetime warrenty and any trouble I just go back. Sounds ace too if I do say so lol. I can just leave the car idleing and sit there listening to it.

Yeah. Got powerflow near me. Seems like a good guy

too. Will customise tailpipe, Down-pipe size and sound. Mate had one and sounded lovely. Not too loud but nice and deep.

If I had the money the car would probably send most of it's time in a garage being modded and tuned. I'd never drive the thing. Lol

That with the map and carbonio I got will sound sweet!

:)

Billy,

(sorry to hijack!)

If you are going to go down the BT route I'm selling some injectors that'd work great with an IHI vf34? As well as an AGU inlet manifold if you were ever thinking of going largeport.

Let me know if you're interested.

Steve:)
