Performance difference on gearbox combinations & settings

Featured Replies

I know this isn't the right time of year in terms of weather but I have two questions:-

1. Has anyone timed their 2.0 TDi 0-60, need one with DSG & one with manual? The book says the DSG is slower, but other manufacturers quote a faster 0-60. Just wondered if soemone has actually tried it.

2. What is the difference in 0-60 time for the DSG in sport compared to normal mode? Does the sport setting really increase acceleration or just use more motion lotion?

I would test #2 but my 2.0 TDI DSG doesn't arrive for another 2 months :(

Isn't sport mode just a different shift programme i.e it's hold onto gear longer?

If so I wonder whether it would be any faster...I mean after all the gearing is the same.

I would imagine the DSG to be quicker than a manual for most people, simply because there's no break in power during gear changes, and it can change gear so quickly. I agree though - the published figures are all over the place

does seem odd that all other people say they are quicker but skoda claims slower

having test driven a 2.0 tdi dsg i can say that it's blooming quick. There is no way a manual driver can change that quick. The sports program holds the gear in between 2000 - (4000-4500) rpm, while Drive drops to almost 1500rpm and changes at around 3000 rpm. Anyone considering the diesels go for dsg
