Trip upgrade

Featured Replies

Does any one know if it is possible to upgrade the speedo on a 2001 1.9 SDI classic fabia to a speedo that has the trip computer function?

If so, how? I'm guessing i would need a speedo with the trip function and a new stalk with the trip buttons.

Any help appreciated.

I have a feeling you would also need to change the control module too but not sure.

Thanks philje123 - Would i still be able to upgrade to one with a trip even if i don't have the control module?

I want to change my dials as the fuel gauge needle is stuck so thought it would be a good time to upgrade!

How would i go about changing it for the immobiliser as well? I have the 4 digit pin code but the ross tech guides don't seem to make sense to me. Or am i just reading them wrong.

If you have access to vag-com etc then you can check what control modules you currently have and compare them to a model that you know has a trip computer etc. Then if they are the same or used in a car that has trip then you should be fine.

As far as installing the new cluster then I imagine it would work without a any problems as the wiring for all the other things (speedo, rev counter and fuel guage) should be the same.

I think for the immobiliser I think you would just need to program any old keys stored in the new clocks and program in your car keys for it to work but not 100% on that one.

Hope that helps.

Phil

Is the needle stuck or has the sender packed up? Lot of work to change the cluster to find it's the same.

The needle will move when you fill it up but as the tank empties the needle will move but only when i go round corners.
