Boost gauge restrictor t piece

Featured Replies

Hey all,

After getting my boost gauge and pod all sorted out I pretty much have everything I need, after a bit more reading on the install I need a restrictor t piece or valve to stop the gauge vibrating or clicking on a tdi? I also need something for going into the boost pipe itself?

What are you guys using and any links to any equipment much appreciated :)

Thanks

Jordan

I bought the t-piece that awesome-gti sell.

Plumbed that in and the noise stopped!

That's interesting, I just bought a variable regulator valve. Same ones as you get from aquarium places, eBay also does them for pennies.

You could also do the same with a cable tie but I didn't have much success with that :)

Where does the 2nd output go for a t piece?

I just got a small silver inline restrictor valve from eBay, I think a t piece is for petrol boost gauge, I gonna need to get a tapered tap for the feed in the boost pipe then that should be it :)

I have the t-piece fitted to mine and made no difference lol

Do you have a link to the restrictor you bought? What gauge have you got? I was looking at getting one for a while but cant find a suitable gauge.

I got a glowshift gauge, come from America, bought on eBay. Bought it cause it looks nice and oem and has a choice of colours :) I'll have a look later as I'm on my phOne :)

Im guessing it vibrates on accel?? Mine did this and was annoying as hell and a t piece did nothing to help! Does the gauge needle "bounce" when at idle?? Mine did, so i sorted it with cable ties and pulling them as tight as i could get them with my fingers so not to crush the hosing. I put a tie on the vacuum hose 2 foot from the gauge and continued this in 2 inch increments till the gauge stopped bouncing. Then put a tie 2 foot from the connection on the boost pipe and this will sort it. Has on mine anyway.

I got an autogauge boost gauge and it came with a T piece, I used my own connector to tap into the boost pipe itself then had to use the T piece restrictor as the gauge was getting too much pressure.

Mine was vibrating like crazy with a VDO boost gauge, I went to my local aqautics shop and bought a little t piece regulator for about £2 and it worked a treat. Been installed for 2 years and not had one bit of bother with it.

Edit: Gauge tube is fitted to a boost nipple on the EGR delete pipe.
