Another Fabia test drive report !

Featured Replies

OK. I know this must be the 100th post reviewing thoughts on a test drive, but I wanted to add my little bit. First and foremost I went to the dealer on Saturday, and with handing over my driving license he handed me the keys to their silver demo and said

 With an aftermarket HU the fade can be brought forward a bit to lessen the rear tweeter volume a bit. On dead centre it is overpowering - mine is set to about +6, with +15 being the maximum. edit: Prob can do with standard HU too.

Good review though! Always felt that way about my car too. I reckon though at 41.8 mpg you were having a rather spritely test, not that I blame you. ;)

To be honest, I am quite surprised someone would wanna trade a T5 for a Fabia vRS, but each to their own.

Obviously I am not going to disagree with what you've said... the car is fantastic fun at realistic speeds. I know which car I'd probably rather have, and, if I was in a position to buy a car now, I would almost certainly be VERY tempted to buy your car off you. But I am not... so there :P

BTW, for motorways, realistically, I find 5th a better gear for overtaking on motorways and 6th is a cruising gear. It does seem quite unresponsive compared to 5th gear, yet its said that i can crack 50-70 in 10 seconds even in 6th. In 5th I'd say it was about 6-7 seconds.

DONT TALK TO ME ABOUT TEST DRIVES

i went into my local dealer for a test drive the GF wanted to drive a Fabia VRS we booked for 2pm we arrived at 1:50pm to an empty show room...2pm someone said hello to us and asked if we wanted help...we told them we were here for a 2pm test drive and who it was with....they mumbled something about who we had asked to see and something about getting the car ready and walked off back into the office where he came from...still standing about in an empty show room at 2:15 we saw both sales men return after test drives with diffrent customers we asked one if teh VRS was ready to test drive the answer we got was they had been with there customers since 1:15 we said yes we understand that...but we did book...expecting just to pick up the car.... they again jsut said you will have to wait.....who knows how long we coudl have waited if the people brought teh car it coudl have been an hour or more!!! no appology was ever given for now keeping us waiting for 30mins so we left with out test driving it and went and test drove a scooby STI instead!

Im not blaming the two sales guys that was working on a saturday (a very busy day) a sale is a sale at teh end of the day....however if the first person we spoke to explained the two sales men were out and with customers and apologised and explained we coudlnt take the car out until one was free we woudl have rearaged to come back but they have lost a sales now!! not asking to much am i?? :soapbox:
