epc and triangle light came on no revs

Featured Replies

was on the way to preston tonight

just after all the rain the epc light and a triangle on the dash came on

had no revs just around 1000rpm

had to roll onto the hard shoulder turned the car off and started it again

no more problems all the way there and back to wolverhampton

any ideas what could have caused this

and should i leave it and see if it happens again

One of the engine sensors threw a code & the ECU went into limp mode. The only way to find out what caused it is to get VAGCOM or a code reader plugged into the ECU.

It should be ok to drive the car, but I'd be cautious of driving at speed for a while in case it goes into limp again. Recycling the ignition should take it out of limp.

Possibly a power supply problem. Check the fuses ont op of the battery for signs of over heating, caused by a high resistance in the main cable from the alternator. The alternator loom can be replaced separately and the fusebox may clean up or need replacing, if this is the problem.

also sounds daft but also seems to be running quicker and smoother since this happened

Doesn't the MAF bring the EPC light on sometimes? Sure i read it on here somewhere, think it was the MAF lol
