Official Discount on Peugeot 3008

Don't be tempted by the Peugeot, I know I'm new here, but we are just about to exit a nightmare experience with one of the 3008's very close relatives.

The sorry puppy is back in the supplying dealers workshop on Monday so that they can attempt to get it in a fit state for me to trade it in this coming Friday for our new Yeti. There are so many parts in common with the 3008 that I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole. It is only 15 months old and has spent more time in the repair shop than any other car I've owned

I would happily pay MORE for a Yeti than for anything from the PSA stable, despite what many positive online reviews will tell you. We are about to part with the worst car I have ever owned in 26 years of motoring.

The 3008 has to be the dullest looking crossover on sale in the UK

Well new car sales were down three and a half percent last month and with the world economy about to go bonkers again I can see more deals like that being offered.

I have a 12 year old diesel Peugeot 306 on the drive, owned from new, 145,000 miles and all I've had to replace is a rear shock, corroded radiator, discs and pads and a couple of headlight bulbs.

No rust, never failed an MOT, not even any advisories.

All manufacturers release duds from time to time.

I had a very bad experience with a BMW 320d and vowed never to return but we all know deep down BMW's are good quality cars.

As for looks, I actually quite like the 3008, it ain't stunning by any stretch but the Yeti isn't exactly renowned for its good looks :giggle:

Food for thought.

Fair point Silver1011, to be fair my wife has a C1 which is both reliable and economical.

A few years back we had a Xsara Picasso from new for 7 years and all we had to have repaired was one electric window motor.

The problems we have been having with our current car are mostly failed sensors for one thing or another and the EGS Gearbox.

As the 3008 has all of these toys and more I would just be more careful in the future. I had got around to thinking that the badge didn't matter too much anymore on modern cars, but I do still have more faith in VW Group cars than some others, at least on the electronics front.

Less electronic trickery on the Yeti, so fingers crossed for more reliable motoring....

I think you are right, my Peugeot is a non-turbo with no A/C, and the only luxury is front electric windows. Remember the days of having to lean over and adjust the passenger side mirror :giggle:

I'm sure it has a pretty basic ECU, no CANBUS, and no DPF etc. etc.

There is no avoiding the fact that modern cars are a whole lot more complicated than they used to be which means more to go wrong and more expense when they do go wrong.

I often look at nearly new Peugeot 308's to replace the 306 as they are very well priced (fully loaded, xenon’s, PDC, panoramic roof, leather, climate, 18" alloys, two year old diesel GT, low mileage from a main dealer for £8K) but there is always a niggling thought that whilst the PSA group may make great diesel engines their ability in other areas isn't as well renowned.

£15,000 is a lot to pay for a Peugeot 3008 and I couldn't do it let alone afford it. Unfortunately Skoda's fantastic build quality isn't a secret anymore so I doubt I'll be able to afford a Yeti, Octavia vRS or a Superb any time soon.

Some of us have to consider less desirable and lower priced competitors :'(
