The ŠKODA Octavia Hatch Greenline II has won the top honour in the ‘Small Family Car’ category in the Next Green Car Awards 2011.

The NextGreenCar.com awards are based around the website’s unique Green Car Rating (GCR). This ranks every car out of 100 by examining CO₂ and seven other exhaust emissions across the life-cycle of the vehicle. This calculation makes it possible to compare different fuel types/drive-trains on a single scale. The lower the number, the greener the car. The ŠKODA Octavia Hatch 1.6 TDi Greenline II has a GCR of just 28.

WOW, nicely done Skoda, just goes to show that all this fancy start/stop n hybrid technology isn't necesarilly the best way to go.
