Gutted!

How gutted am I?

Before I bought my fabia I was looking at the Furbie VRS, took it for a couple of test drives etc. Having been hit by an uninsured t**t a few months ago I now find I have lost most of my hard won NCD and my insurance has gone through the roof. Result: Can't afford the VRS so bought my little 3 pot chugger, will start saving and build up my NCD again.

This I can cope with...

Until this morning when I had a call from my Dad to say that he was so impressed when he came on the test drive with me that he bought one last week, and My sister has one on order.

I'd better be able to drive his when I visit or I will not be impressed at all!

Not fair on you, but the whole family has some good car sense

True. I'm sure once I get home and see both the cars I'll be chuffed to bits on their behalf.

It's sure going to make our anual family road trip to the south of France a bit more fun! They'd better give me a headstart though!

Where in south of France out of interest?

Honestly though, be careful. Don't wanna have a d

Nice last couple of years, thinking of Marseille this time but not decided as yet. Hope it's nottoo hot, I'll be the only bugger without aircon!

Its not too bad.

Get it chipped, you should see over 100 bhp with your engine. Then enjoy the fact that your car isnt as nose heavy as the Fabia VRS and is also lighter.... a chipped PD75 probably isnt light years behind a VRS in a straight line.

Already chipped. Haven't had it on the rolling road yet so not sure on power. I'm waiting for some induction upgrades before fiddling with the settings of the box.

Not sure how you can afford a chipped car with the inherent higher premiums though ??

Just to clarify: Tunning box, rather than ECU re-chip or re-map.

Insurance company were strangely rather good about it. Costing me an extra

Doesnt make sense does it, this insurance lark. They want

Not exact figures but off the top off my head...

Last year: Mazda 323 1.3 Lxi (group 9 or something daft!) with 7 years NCD, cost me about

And I'm 28, 11 years of driving. Never had a bump until the afore mentioned.

Do you have the 12v HTP?

Rather nippy and sounds rorty......80mph ....sneaks up you pretty quickly as well.

Usually have one of them as a courtsey car.

Nope, Diesel all the way. :)

REALLY - I have just given one of these back to the garage after having it as a loan whilst my Fab' vRS was serviced and I thought it was wheezy, underpowered and the economy was something like 10-15 mpg less than I would see in mine.

Guess i've been spoilt.........

I have an Octy RS and while there is no comparison, it was nice to try something different.

Easily gets to 80mph...my route back from the dealer is up the M3....ok it's not like my "standard" Octy but taken in context it's a fine little car...IMHO. :D

Saw 40+mpg....nice comfortable ride...a little wallowy for my taste and steering is light...just as it was ment to be for a city/round around car.

Sure you didn't have the 6v?

6v, as in 6v of electric - that would explain it :D

It said htp on the back but that's all i remember, i was busy too trying to keep up with the other traffic to notice........

Going off thread but..Wasn't keen on the engine noise but the 1.2 was definately nippier than our former car,the 1.4 8v.

As to the thread, having two vRS's that you can play with must get you through this period( if they are generous with the keys!)

Leaving aside the petrol 3 cylinder models... Any other experiences or opinions of the 1.4TDi?

I've driven both a Fabia and and Ibiza with that engine and I was quite impressed, it felt like a bigger engine than it was and was a huge leap in driveability over the 1.4 petrol which I felt was one of the most asthmatic engines I've ever driven (and this includes the 1.3 Corsa I learned to drive in!)
