Fabia SE TSI 105 DSG in Red

Featured Replies

Ordered 7th December 2010 promised early March, then May then mid August after trying some of the best small cars which had to be no wider than the current Golf MK4 Automatic(SWMBO).

You have to bear in mind that I am 78 and have been running the Golf for the past 10 years.

Having owned 23 cars since 1956 including a wonderful Golf GTI Mk1.

Due to the long delivery I was tempted to buy a Honda Jazz CVT which I could have had in a few days but was not happy about the poor torque from the engine at low revs which led to much high revving from the engine. Many thanks to Estate Man who gave me advice at this time.

So I sat it out and took delivery last Thursday.

The Sales at D.M.Keith in Leeds were first class, no problems with them.

Overall I am very pleased with the car.

There is nothing apparently wrong and no rattles or unpleasant noises.

The engine is very quiet unless traveling fast, even then I don't find it noisy. Wind and road noise are not so bad.

Taking off from rest is not as smooth as the old Golf but smooth enough and should get better.

The car interior is pleasant enough and roomy.

The climatronic air-con works well and will stay on automatic.

Petrol filler cap was quite easy to use, no problem here.

The ride is firmer than the Golf leading to feeling more jolts and rocking sideways but the roadholding is better.

Electric assisted steering is easier to use, the wheel with leather pack is very pleasant.

The steering is dead neutral, no pulling over left.

The speedo and rev-counter have rather poor contrast graduations making them hard to read if there are trees overhead, common where I live.

The default settings for locking and such are OK for me.

Build quality is excellent, I did not expect such refinement, as good as the Golf.

The low down torque from the engine makes driving more enjoyable, acceleration is rapid if you ask for it.

I have addressed the most common complaints cropping up on this forum and thankfully I have been blessed with a first class car as you can see.

I will report later on petrol consumption, too early for this but it is way better than the 25 overall for the Golf, mainly urban use.

Edit. Forgot to add estate to the title description, maybe a mod will change for me.

The grill itself is black but the bar across the front of the bonnet is chromed.

It looks fine to me.

I am very pleased with the red colour, it is a proper red and when polished seems to glow.

Very nice write up  and the car looks good :p and i am with you with the Corrida red when it`s wash & polished it glows B)

enjoy your new car :)
