Fabia internal light unit

Featured Replies

I unscrewed this unit from my rooflining to clean lots of grime around it.

In doing so, I think i lost a retaining clip as the slider shown next to my thumb in photo 2no longer sits in place properly.

Does anyone happen to have a removed unit they could take a look at to tell me whether there's a clip holding the copper slider (at the back) in place?.

Bit of a long shot I know, but worth asking just in case !

Thanks very much for reading :)

Anybody know whether the Fabia I and II share the same interior light console - would help a lot with finding another at a Breakers.

Thanks for any help :)

Got one somewhere in the garage so I'll try and have a look - did the switch fall out? If so I think you've put it back together the wrong way round - the dots on the switch should be nearest to the edge of the unit so they line up with the 'o' under your thumb...

Thanks, that's very kind !.

Yep, the slider fell out. Have put it back right way round now to line up with the 'O' but that in itself makes no difference to the fit.

I'm pretty sure I must have lost some retaining clip or something.

The lights are the same in the Fabia I and II. Don't think there is a retaining clip, i think the two jugs should open up and hold it in place.

Think we're talking about different things.

Mine is the interior light that sits in the roof, between both sun visors

Yes, that is what is above in it's three parts (along with the cover for the head light switch)

Ah yes, now i get it !. Thanks.

Really can't see how mine would work without a retaining clip - its a pitiful design if there isn't another missing bit

Actually now I think of it there might have been a rectangular piece that clipped over to hold it in place. Bending the clip will make the slider tighter so yeah your right.

Just got another unit from the scrapyard for £3, and there indeed a spring at the back to hold the copper plate and switch in place.
