New member with high mile Fabia SDI

Featured Replies

Hi

Just to introduce myself..

Just bought a 150k SDI Fabia and so far I'm enjoying my ownership (2 weeks). I stumbled upon this site looking for answers to questions, so I thought I'd better join.

The car feels solid and has been pretty reliable, and considering its age (2001 Y) drives well which shows how good the engineering is.

Welcome!

150k is nothing for an SDI. I had a Y-plate Octavia with 440,000 miles on the clock once! I'd love to know where that car is now.

Hi and welcome.

As said 150k miles is nothing for an diesel, my '52' Fabia PD100 ticked over 145k on Sunday

Welcome!

Yes, the SDi is probably going to be the most reliable of them all - simple design and less to go wrong. Enjoy the next 150k :)

Thanks everone.

My mother has an Octavia (4x4 petrol) that has done 150k and it seems very reliable. I'm changing the cambelt and oil/filters on the SDI soon- It seems a good car to work on.

Only things that are missing is handbook and service so I have no idea as to how well it's been cared for and the sump guard is also missing so I'll have track one down before winter.

BTW my wife is called Octavia (Ocky) but she drives a Renault 7 seater :-)

I have a spare plastic sump guard. Postage/getting it to Norfolk is the issue though...

I'd be interested if it fits a Fabia diesel, post will be awkward...

not sure if some other carrier method. Of course I'll pay and give you some extra for your trouble.

It'll fit. Was originally on a Fabia vRS PD130.

Will get some dimensions when I'm next in the garage then, and see if there's a way of getting it to you.

Thank you that's very kind and will save me looking round the scrap yards.

No probs; it's only taking up room :)
