Looking for whiter looking DRL bulbs, Octy 2011

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm hoping to get some tips on where to buy preferably good quality white looking bulbs for my Skoda Octavia L&K 4X4 TDI CR Estate 2011. Currently I have the factory fitted ones which are pretty yellow, I think they are PY21W bulbs (if someone can verify this, thanks!).

Xenonish looking light or similar will work, Suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks!

Thank you for the info and link, I will give it a good look. Thanks!

BTW, do you happen to know if one can get white light bulbs (LED too, I guess) for the license plate lights, without CANBUS hassle etc? Some sort of plug-and-glow bulbs?

To be honest the LED bulbs are loads of hassle. They vary significantly in quality and seem to have a high failure rate. Given the pain in the arse it is to change bulbs on our vehicles and the cost involved, think carefully before going down the route.

DRL bulbs are P21W. Y - is for yellow , but bulbs in use are white. Yust by default less then 100% going to the bulbs ( on my car it was 95%). There are some really bright standard bulbs on the market , but I am in process of installing 5W LED , the only issue is you need to put C10W as ballast to get no CAN errors.

The factory fit bulbs are long life, for good reasons, and are still bright enough to annoy other motorists. Mine have lasted 28 months and counting.

The handbook describes the bulbs as PY21W SLL. (Super Long Life?)
