brake calipers stuck

Featured Replies

Hi all started to change my discs and pads and found both my calipers stuck solid. got the nearside to free up after some swearing and bashing but the offside is totally stuck and the brake line is rusted to it so if i have to change the caliper then i'll have to change those too so wondering if anybody has either a solution or some spares i can buy off them. thanks in advance,

I'd have thought a G clamp would open up even the most seized of calipers? Put the clamp on so you squeeze the sliding pins, top and bottom.

Sorry i may have muddled up whats what. being new to this I think i'm on about the piston in the middle (large cylinder that actually pushes the pads) not the top and bottom bolts which where also seized but managed to get them moving.I may be wrong though

Have you tried squeezing the piston in with a large pair of water pump pliers?

Or a bit of wood and a g clamp if you don't have water pump pliers.

think still got the ones that were replaced by the ford ones, will check tomorrow, they and me are in burnley.

I've definitely got a pair of calipers here but they are painted blue.. If you need them let me know

thanks guys have sourced one for 24 including delivery used is this a decent price?

24 is not too bad tbh, just make sure you get the correct side, the left/right callipers are not the same
