New Tyres for vrs - Mercedes certified version?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just looking around for new 225/40/18 Y XL tyres for the front on my vrs. To keep it similar to the rears I'll go for either sport contact 3 or the newer sport contact 5. Lots of the online searches just throw up a Mercedes (and sometimes and Audi) certified version of the tyre. Does anyone know if it is actually the same tyre or if I really need the more generic, non manufacturer certified version?

Thanks.

Exactly the same. Got some mercedes certified ones on mine and no issues.

Hello

Thank you for your recent query.

In essence, there is no difference. There is no implication with fitting

this tyre to a non-Mercedes vehicle, either.

The MO (Mercedes original) marking is a request that MB make to have on

their tyres from the factory. As we have a substantial amount of OE fitment

with this manufacturer, most tyres available in the replacement market

carry this denotion.

Yes, as said - no issue. Just make sure that the load and speed rating is correct. You don't mention what these specs are, on the variants you've found.
