Rear Auto Wipe

Featured Replies

I have tried to disable this but can't figure out how to? I know it's going to be a simple solution but it's beyond me! :smirk:

Hi,

it's a tick box in the set-up menu of the maxidot; think from memory in lights & vision. If not then convenience.

Regards,

TP

Elsie the Helipad seems to do a wipe of the rear window every time I start her. I have the box unchecked and the front and rear wipers are in the off position...... Confused.

Ta much!

I'm confused too because mine never seems to autowipe whatever is ticked or unticked!

If it is ticked it should auto wipe every 5 (?) wipes when the front wipers are on permanently. It doesn't work on intermittent.

Ah, that probably explains it - I seldom have my wipers on anything other than intermittent as I find continuous wipe somewhat mesmerising!

I agree, but 'down South' we don't have that much rain, that we need to use permanent very often.....God will now prove me wrong....emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

You don't have intermittent and neither does any other Elegance....they are automatic......sometimes it would be nice if they were intermittent. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif and the rear wiper doesn't wipe when checked on auto either....emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

All is now clear - and it's been raining very hard all today oop here in't'north but I've not been out in the SM!

It does if the rain sensor decides it has to keep the wipers going continuously for long enough. It doesn't often rain that hard even here in Scotland, though.

Mind you, the current torrential conditions may yet give me the privilege of observing it on my drive to work this morning.

What rain?

Oh...as I write this there are a few drops on my loft windows above me....barely enough for auto to switch on...emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I had a Renault years ago that always wiped the rear screen when you selected reverse. Even though I have mine ticked on the Yeti it has perhaps ONCE wiped when I selected reverse. Not sure what the algorithm is that controls this option but it ain't working in my book...

The sweep when you select reverse is working on mine after de-selecting the auto wipe feature. That rear sweep added to the sound mute is a nice and welcome feature. Also like the windscreen wipers auto switch to intermittent when you come to a stop.

However I'm delighted to see the back of the normal auto wipe when the wipers are on! :smirk:

Had some of the worst rain I've ever encountered on the road last week (on the A166), even forced me to pull off road for a while it was so heavy. In my good lady's Fabia at the time. Thought I might be needing a body-shop at one point, as we were also getting hit by fairly substantial hail stones, the noise was tremendous.

Back to Yeti wipers; while on hols in Europe we had quite a bit of rain and I noticed the rear auto wipe operation was very sporadic when the fronts were in the auto rain sensing position, despite the fact that the wipers were going constant. Select manual constant and the rear worked at regular intervals as with the previous SE :wonder:

TP

the rear wiper works only when its raining hard, yesterday it was raining hard and at speed of 30kmph also the rear started wiping on the auto, 3 days back it was raining and the front was on auto but the rear never worked, looks like based on the rain intensity the auto send wipe instruction to rear!

This all sounds like a case of too many extras  In my normal SE SM the rear wiper only "auto" activates when:-

1. The front wipers have been used and I select Reverse.

and

2. When the front wipers are on, there is an occasional rear wipe.

BUT

If there is enough rain for the wipers to be on full time, the rear end generates so much spray, the rear wipe needs to be switched on anyway.

I'm on an SE Yeti. I disabled the automatic rear wipe function but it still goes off every so often when I go into reverse even with the normal wipers switched to OFF. Sometimes it does it sometimes not. There is no logic to it but I just accept this as a quirk now.

that is my thoughts as well.
