Service Interval reset lower than expected

Featured Replies

Just had my Superb serviced for the first time. It was delivered with the variable service interval setup and I managed 18500 miles (23 months approx.) before the first service was due. After the service I noticed that the next due date is now only 366 days away or 9100 miles, similar to the fixed service interval. I was expecting it to be around the 18000 mile mark again. Anyone know if this is standard for the second variable service interval?

Standard as the days is a year not 2 as it should be on variable.

The dealer has put the car on fixed servicing!

Take it back and get them to reset it correctly (assuming you asked for and paid for a variable service?)

Kick off at the service manager and complain to Skoda. Too many dealers are pulling this stunt! Check they used long life oil, and if any doubt on this insist the oil is changed again whilst you wait for the correct stuff.

If you paid for variable, and the dealer had done it, it would show --- until you've done 500 miles and the car has calculated expected service mileage.

If it shows a figure in days and or mileage straight away then dealer's set to fixed.

Remember as well there is a dealer review section on Briskoda for others to check dealers ;)

When getting it reset to variable, make sure that they used the long life oil in your service, as otherwise you will need an oil change again.

ALL DPF equipped vehicles (which is what the OP has) MUST use VW507.00 oil - which is also variable service oil.

Oops - the display was showing "---" so I hit the reset button to get a readout - I must have messed up the calculations now - what a muppet. Do you know if it will still reset itself after 500 miles or should I take it back to the dealer to sort it?

No by the sounds of it YOU have reset it to fixed servicing! when you reset the interval via the instruments the car will always revert to fixed schedule.

A bit of humble pie time at the dealers (or someone with VCDS) i now required :giggle:
