wanting to install dot matrix in my car

Featured Replies

can anyone show me or point me the right direction to fitting this in my car, i don't believe that anyone in northern ireland or ireland can do this for me and i wont be bringing the car to fit this in englandtown.

so can someone tell me what i need to get this fitted. I can code the car my self just not real sure what parts i need.

I prefer inkjet or laser printing myself! :giggle:

Seriously though, I presume you are wanting Maxi-dot? If so you will need the dashpod for starters, beyond that I wouldn't have a clue, it might be worth sending shark_90 a PM, he is the man in the know, or Brimma, as he has had the conversion done.

Edit: Just noticed your Octavia vRS is 191bhp! Is it a mk1 or 2?

If its FL version I think you need the dealers to do the job as there is no hack for the immobiliser yet. I have seen in one of the previous threads a maxidot been fitted in Ireland by dealer. The unit can be purchased from skodateile. Ben@sharkperforamnce is the person to ask.

I did not order my car with in 08 as would have to wait ages.... But to retro fit it needs a dealer to perform 'a dashpod swap' like the not working etc. Then of course you need a uk mph pod and this satarts getting very expensive! Plus my local was very cold on idea too, which kind of put me off somewhat.

Why don't you buy Vagcom (VCDS) and you then do on the moding and more via that? £250. I know won't look as nice but avlot simpler!

Instrument cluster available at skodateile.cz. Please check with shark performance Ben for some advice. Also could email the above online shop for the right kind of unit etc.

You need to make it clear to Skodateile whether you need the clocks for a petrol or a diesel - I assume if it's 2007 diesel it will be PD

The swap involves all info from your existing clocks to be transferred to the new one, which is likely to be a dealership job, since you don't have a Shark in Ireland

The clocks from Skodateile cost about £260 delivered, dependent on the exchange rate at the time - full UK retail on ESKA is over £700 - whether that is why dealers aren't keen on fitting ready bought ones I don't know

It might be worth asking a local dealer what they would do if a car had a fault with a dashpod, such that it needed changing - the procedure shouldn't be any different

I'm glad I had mine done - it does look way better than the original, and integrates very well with the MFD3 sat-nav

Hi

can you give me a quote for 1Z0 920 943 MKDO. its for 1.6 cr tdi octy elegance 2010 july reg.

Sorry to ask stupid question. What's the best way to get part number for instrument cluster with maxidot. If I ask dealer he'll want to know why I'm asking since his records will show that my 1.8tsi dsg Elegance doesn't have maxidot.

Ohh, very interesting Eddie. Sadly I've no idea of the part number I need!

I'm in NI too mate. As said, you need more than VCDS to install a maxidot display.

Sadly the only none dealer person really seems to be Ben at Shark Performance, I havent found anyone over here yet.

That said, a few memebers on here have had them swapped by a dealer. Its literally just the same process for installing a maxidot unit that it would be to swap a standard one under warranty for example.

Phone Mervyn Stewart etc over here and just ask a price for fitting one....and let me know!!

If ordering from Skodtiele, make sure you specify a UK one with MPH too!!

This was my idea of a dot matrix display, mounted in the rear screen and of course using different messages for different occasions:

In the same boat, I would like maxidot in my my2007 Tfsi vRS.....perhaps Brimma would check ESKA for us both! :p

The clocks from Skodateile cost about £260 delivered.

Funnily enough I just checked the price yesterday and it was £215 for a non VRS unit. If I recall postage is £20 odd.

Billy bargain!

Just tried to look at the Skodateile site and its displaying this strange message, not sure on the date format???

Sorry

E-Shop for technical reasons, from 9.8.2011 to 21.8.2011 closed. Thank you for your understanding.

:(

Hmm, It was definitely since the 9th that I was on.

Ed, how would I find the part number of the unit I need?
