The VRS I bought this Saturday!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, you might of read the post I put up the other day, stating I was going to pick up a 05' VRS with 40k on it. Few of you asked for photos so here they are!

Really happy with the car. Got a guy coming round tomorrow to do a full interior valet for £40 to clean up those mad white seat inserts / carpets and everything else. I've also booked it into a good garage round the corner for a full cambelt, tensioner, water pump and AUX belt change this Wednesday as they have never been done!

Also got a random relay clicking sound coming from the hazard switch, I hear its a common fault so I need to replace that at some point!

Other than that the cars a beaut, and defiantly a stormer as its been remapped by Celtic Tuning to "225". I don't believe its 225 for a second, more like 205/210? It is quick though.

Hope you guys like :)

Marc

Looks very clean and tidy, they always look good in silver.

That attitude means you will fit right in! Always maintain pessimism toward OTT tuner claims. :)

+1

especially celtics

Looks clean.

Remember to go for the metal impeller over the plastic one on the water pump for peace of mind. The garage should know what you are talking about! :)

Cheers guys! :) I've heard about Celtic before for being optimistic. I plan to get a turbo intake pipe, panel filter and get it properly remapped by R-Tech at a later date.

Also I thought it was best to go for the plastic type as if a fin breaks off it wont damage the engine like the metal type could?

looking nice.

You might want to look at the rear exhaust rubbers as the tail pipe looks like it is hanging a bit low. A few pennies for new ones from your friendly exhaust place.

The clicking noise will either be the relay behind the hazard switch with probably needs to be replaced, or some people have found that squirting some contact cleaner into the indicator stalk cures the problem.

Plastic pumps sometimes break up / separate from the drive shaft so they don't spin. Seems to be more of an issue on the petrol engines rather than the diesels though.

Yeah its on my list, was going to sort it out while its up on the ramps when the cam belts being done.

I've done the switch cleaner already, but didn't help. I've got a switch on it way, only cost £16.50.

My old man's got the golf with the AUQ engine and he had the plastic pump fitted and hasn't had any problems. Was just put off the metal type as I dont want that breaking up.

Looks very tidy indeed.

Looks like a good clean VRS from the photos :)

Silver, Black and White are the best colours for the MK1 VRS in my mind :)

Yeah, for me it was either gonna be a silver or red one. This came up for the right price so I went for it!

RobClubley - Just to let you know I've been following your car for a while now. Nice mods, nice car :)

Thanks :)

Looks exactly like mine but newer and more POWER.

Like the touch of Clarkson :D

Nice one mate, looks tunning.

I went for the pastic pump last time on the 60k service a few year ago and the old pump was perfect bar a suspected small weaping round the shaft seal. the new impelars are made better and provided the correct coolant is used and they are done at the stated intervals they should be fine, I was going for the metal one but was warned off as they could just seize up unlike the plastic ones? not sure how true that is but it was enough for me.

Just use genuine OE stuff ftom a TPS and look after it well and it should be spot on.

Lots of happy motoring I hope

Veryy nice clean looking car thats been well looked after,

I know some people colour code the rubbing strips, but personally I love the silver/black contrast.

Strangely enough when I got mine I thought silver would show the dirt but it doesnt seem to, still wash it every week tho.:)

That looks extremely tidy and well looked after. Good choice!

Looks nice

Cheers guys!

The photos doesn't really do it justice as they where taken by my phone.

It needs a good polish and the wheels to be taken off properly cleaned. Got a bloke valeting the interior, he's using all sorts like wet vac and such to clean the seats and they are coming up like new!

After all this is done it will be mint!

Thanks again,

Marc

P.S. Anyone know where to get a nice OEM-look black stubby aerial?

Was going to comment on the quality of the photos actually, the lighting's nice on them; but that's even better then if they were by phone!

Just spotted your username; are you the one who's just sold that tidy Golf Mk2?

Stubby aerial - either the Sharan one or the current Polo one (which I have) - they've also started fitting this to Octy Mk2 vRSes. Sharan one is *mega* short and not my cup of tea - the Polo one looks spot-on IMO :)

Yup, that's me! The funding from the Golf went to a great cause :D

Which polo model are we talking about Wardy?

Excellent emoticon-0148-yes.gif

It's the current generation, the 6R - from '09 onwards.

There's photos of it fitted to mine, here

Very nice car mate, i do like them in silver not as nice as red ones though :-p lol.
