Couple questions about the HU 'stream mp3' and fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have sold my Skoda Fabia II, 1.9 TDi from 2003 after i reached 300.000 km, and bought a 'new' Skoda Octavia II combi, 2.0 TDi from 2008 (134.000 km).

Fuel consumption:

I'm slightly disssapointed with the fuel consumption with the Octavia.

In my Fabia 1.9 TDi i did an average of "5.2 L / 100 km".

In the Octavia 2.0 TDi i am doing now an average of "7.3 L / 100 km".

Is this normal for the Octavia ? I expected a bit lower, around the 6..

Stream MP3 HU:

I have the standard 'Stream MP3" radio in my Octavia, and it looks nice, but sounds horrible.

I did already many many searches on this forum, and found loads of links that i saved, how to replace speakers etc, and also about different HU's.

But before i start doing that, my main question about this is for replacing the standard HU, with a single din radio and fascia.

Attached a pic of all the option i get after pressing "MENU", and the ones circles in RED are what i am concerned about.

Will the AC and Illumination still work ? Or are these options just to switch on/off the graphical display on the HU ?

Thanks for your time.

On the Stream questions, yes - those are just options of what you want to display on the Stream's display. So if the 'AC' option is set to 'ON' the screen will display any changes you make the heating/ventilation system - change in temperature for example.

Not sure on your other question, for fuel consumption, as I only work in MPG! So I'll have to go away and do some arithmetic :)

OK... consumption. The Fabia figure you quote is equivalent to 54MPG, the Octavia's 39MPG.

This does seem low. Are these accurately calculated figures, or direct from the trip computer? Of course the Octavia is a bigger engine and more powerful, but I get mid to high 40s from mine, and low 50s on a run. These are calculated directly from total distance from a tank, divided by amount of fuel used. So between 5.9-6.3L per 100Km, and upto 5.4L/100Km on a longer run.

Thanks for all the useful answers :-)

For the HU, great, i can then without issue's replace it.

For the consumption, calculated directly from the refilling the tank, not using the calculator in the car.

I'll give it to the shop for a big maintenance next week, and hopefully it will improve a bit.

Thanks !

Yes, not a problem to replace/upgrade it. A popular upgrade is to the Bolero, now fitted to the current model. You might need a CAN gateway upgrade though, to prevent battery drain. You might be OK on a 2008 car though, depends on your current CAN gateway revision.

On the fuel consumption, yes - after you service it and replace the fuel and air filters, hopefully it will improve for you emoticon-0148-yes.gif
