Brake fluid change 1.8t

Featured Replies

Hi All,

as above really.

Also my brakes feel fine, but the fluid has never been changed in my ownership (March 09)so if they feel fine, should I even bother?

I mean they don't just fail all of a sudden do they......wouldn't I notice them not being up to the job?

Thanks

I once got told by a mechanic that besides petrol and oil, brake fuild is the thrid most used in the car and for what it is worth you should change in a ratio of 2:1 of your oil. Two oil changes to one brake fluid change.

At the end of the day the brakes are the only thing keeping you alive on the road so its best they are in the best condition they can be in.

The brake fluid should be changed every 2 years.

As above - every 2 years regardless of mileage.

Some high performance fluids do stage to change them every year, but I guess they expect you to drive rather hard and want to ensure the water content is low.

If it helps at all, we offer a brake fluid services for:

Stock DOT4 Fluid - £49.50

Tarox DOT4 High Temp Fluid - £75.00

thanks for all the replies, I've booked it in at a local Skoda dealer (Aldershot) just now to have it changed next week.

£52-something or other pence inc VAT.Good price I thought tbh

Sorry to drag up an old thread, is 1l or 2l required for a full fluid change?

If you buy 3litre you've comfortably got enough for 2 fluid changes

NEED TO DO M,INE :p
