changing brake discs and pads

Featured Replies

Hello guys, i am currently trying to restore my vrs 01

to its former glory :) , its a little beaten up :(

One of the remaining problem is that i need to change both rear

brake discs and pads and im hoping to be able to skip out on the

work shop cost on this problem.

Now i have the spare parts to replace it but i was hoping that i could

do it myself, does anyone hafe idotproof guide to change it, it cant be

that hard, right :\

With regard Illugi, proud owner of mk1 vrs 01

ps. i hope that my writing english is readable :)

Have you ever changed disc brake pads before? If so, the only "gotcha" is that you need a proper caliper windback tool because the Octy uses the rear discs for the handbrake function, so the pistons don't just push back into the calipers.

Your English is very good; my only note would be that the personal pronoun "i" should be the upper case "I". (Mods please note; I only said this because I thought the guy would appreciate knowing)

Thanks "I" will keep that in mind :)

I have decided to hand this problem over to a more experienced friend.

Then i will observe closely and learn how to.

But thanks anyway :)

anyone know if the Elegance 1.8t needs the same windback tool?

Any particular type, or a link please?

Same tool will be required. An old thread pop up about this a few days ago.... I'll see if I can find a link.

and to save anyone the hassle of reading any more than necessary, you need this, universally agreed as the best tool of it's type for the job

I bought one, not used it yet, but annoyingly I didn't even think of looking on Amazon, where it's under £15....I paid £18 for one off ebay, pah

Where are you based? I have one you can borrow if you happen to be local (ish)

Scratch that, just saw you've bought one
