Use of a Flash Card....?

Featured Replies

Having just returned from motorcycling over the highest navigable route across the Himalayas, I would now like to send some photos to my Danish fellow riders. I'm about to attempt to transfer digital photos onto a 2GB Flash Drive (FD)....do I first have to format the FD, and if so, how do I do that please? (Never used one before!)

On completion I intend to post the FD to Denmark, anticipating a reciprocal reation from them - any comments or advice on this?

Thanks,

W11A

A flash drive is a good way to send images, you should not have to format it, just copy the files on to it.

Your Danish friend will be able to copy the pics to his computer and send it back with his own pics installed on it.

Am I missing the point here, or why don't you just upload them to a photo viewing site such as Picasa or Flickr. Then you wouldn't have to send a memory card anywhere?

The photos would then be viewable, and you could also allow access for your fellow riders to also upload their photos to the same account - so everything would be in one place.

Apologies if I'm missing something....

Would it be easier and cheaper just to burn the images onto a DVD as jpegs?I am assuming you want to give them the full resolution images

Thanks for your response......Lady E - I assume that the result would be the same with a CD as with an FD?

Well if you record them as jpgs and make sure the disc is 'finalised' (your PC should offer you this service) then they should have no problems at all. But the 'finalising' thing is a good thing to make a note of.
