Resonator Delete exhaust

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anyone removed the resonator (front box/silencer) from the exhaust on their VRS . heard a few Vw doing this and adding a little deeper note to the exhaust . Nothing tooloud just a more sporty tone.

How easy/hard would this be to do.

Thanks

Is the resonator not built into the manifold?

Jenks, I'd want to be sure the removal of resonator box doesn't upset the back pressure in the exhaust system. It usually does and this may cause some performance, economy and noise issues. Indeed I've seen holed pistons on performance motors after someone has modified the exhaust without proper tuning and setup afterwards. On a highly tuned car like the VRs what you do is very likely to have an adverse effect, and for just a bit of extra noise!! emoticon-0145-shake.gif

Modifying your cars standard exhaust system may be problematic, it's probably worth spending the money and getting someone like http://www.longlife.co.uk/ to construct an exhaust that'll produce the sound you want :)
