damaged Wheel

Featured Replies

This is so disappointing when I finally thought I'd found a mechanic I could trust with my car.

Just careless.

Going away for repair tomorrow so hopefully it'll be all sorted.

He also chipped the paint on the brake calliper.

Was he blind. Jez Rob, bet you are annoyed. I don't trust any mechanic so I feel for you buddy. Is he paying for the repairs.

:@ That shouldn't happen :@

Did he tell you or did you find out yourself?

Hope you(and him)sort this out.

He's paying for the repairs.

He didn't tell me, I noticed next morning. He was quite defensive and off with me when I went back in which is a shame as I've given him a fair bit of business and usually we get on well.

He said if his machine did that to my wheel he's never fitting tyres to my car again.

Hope it's fixable as a replacement is $670 and not due to ship from Italy until December!

Its a shame to see this kind of workmanship and it sounds like he is blaming his tools. Hope you gets repaired properly

What a massive cun*.......!!!

Feel for you Rob.

The Skoda dealer that used to be by me (Brooklyn at Alcester) took two chunks out of my bumper once ramming it up the inspection ramps (car was less than 12 months old at the time!!!!) They never said anything and tried to hide the front of car before I drove it away... Needles to say I checked all round the car before I drove off.... Everyone in their showroom heard all about it as I dragged the manager out the front for him to see. I threatened to block the forecourt off until they agreed liability, and that they'd fit a new bumper free of charge.

They agreed quickly oddly enough. Never went back to them the great steaming useless idiotic tw@s!!

Wan*ers everywhere I'm affrid.

Fingers crossed you get it sorted ASAP mate.

Steve:)

next time am in italy rob i can see about picking one up, where are they based?

Yep - how come he managed to do the other side with no issues (the one I kerbed a few months back - typical!)

Thanks, will let you know once I see how the repair goes.

About 80 quid to post a wheel from UK to NZ :o

no worries, remember how much those exhaust shipping quotes were!!!!

how much is it shipped from italy, any different?

  • Author

About 50 quid + VAT from Italy, so a bit cheaper.

The exhaust thing is weird as I managed to get a Piper systems shipped for 120 quid.

it was to do with volumetric sizing iirc

better from italy, just a longer wait then!

see if they will throw in some pasta grappa and vino, oh and salami :giggle:

Okay now I'm annoyed. He's had my wheel since last Monday. I was away all last week and have had no contact this week so I called.

He said "I didn't send it away because I've decided you damaged it not me by running into a kerb or something"

I said what about the damage to the outside that you made and he said "I fixed that"

So I went down and collected it.

He has a very different definition of "Fixed" to me:

Poor attempt at painting over the scratch

New scratches on the black and he's sanded off some of the silver to the metal underneath.

Overspray!!

So apparently at Firestone "fixed" means "Made worse"

Letter to head office I think as I'm not going to get anywhere with him - he's the franchise owner.
