3rd brake light modification

Featured Replies

I recently saw a Fabia on which the last three LED's at each end of of the third brake light remained illuminated, presumably because it was dark and they had their lights on. The rest of the third brake light came on when they braked. Other than this modification, the car appeared to be a bog standard 1.4 model in solid blue. Has anyone else carried out this mod or knows how it was done ?

I doubt it is legal to do this ;)

I've seen exactly the same thing on a few Golfs and interestingly on Black Cabs - it looks like part of the OEM LED cluster and not aftermarket..... hmmm....

Black cabs have one red light each end of the 3rd brake light.

Seem to remember a thread on here a few months back about this and it was basically a fault with the 3rd brake light where the LEDs weren't going off. It was probably a dream though as search didn't turn up anything :o

Chris

seen it on a few cars and a few buses round oxford work the same, i like it

Doesnt the last set of LED's stay on if there is a side light failure?

I agree with WW VRS. Dont think its legal

Also there are enough people around who dont seem to know what a handbrake is for. Sitting at red lights with their foot on the brake in the dark dazzling everyone behind especially in the wet really bugs me, so for me this is not a good idea.

How about fog lights :D

Don't think it is actually illegal, annoying if your behind it maybe, but not illegal. My Taxi sign illuminates 6 LEDs when "off hire" (two groups of three at either end of the sign It also had the same on the front but local plod pulled me up one night and told me I had to remove the front ones but could keep the ones showing to the rear.

There only small but boy are they visible.

Basically, as far as the law goes, no red to the front, no white to the rear (unless reversing, of course!).

That's the one - and they're not as bright as the brake lights.
