Slight Stutter/Misfire whilst accelerating

Featured Replies

Hi, First of all my vehicle is a 57 plate Octavia mkII 1.9 tdi pd ambiente.

Now I have noticed this problem for some time and not having much luck in finding a solution so hear me out whilst I try to describe it in as much detail as I can. When accelerating gently, for example in traffic or just generally round town, there is a a stutter, jerking or misfire and this happens in all gears from what I can tell. Notice it mostly in 2nd and 3rd. It feels like fuel starvation or something like that but its as if the engine can't run smoothly but it only happen for like a second or two and seems to be when its passing 1500 rpm roughly. When you accelerate hard the stutter doesnt seem to happen.I have also noticed it once on the motoway at about 3000 rpm. I have slowed back down when the stutter happens so I pass that rev range again whilst driving and you can get it to stutter again. Sometimes they can be very minute and others it can be like 3 or 4 sudden jerks. Now the vehicle has been fully serviced since this fault began including all the filters changed etc. I have had it in skoda and had the ECU's updated and have also had it on diagnostic twice and both times has shown know faults. Skoda have said they aren't sure what this fault is but according to them its not any blockages in the injectors or fuel filters. Has anybody got any advice or experiencing the same probelm with any of there diesel vehicles in the VAG range and if so could you please let me know or offer any advice because I don't know where or what to do next? Thank You for taking time to read this and I hope I can get on the right track to solving this fault for my sake and any of use out there that may have similar problems. Thank you again

I have something very similar on a 2.0 TDi pd, feels like hitting a big gust of head wind when accelerating moderately around 1500 to 2000 rpm in all gears. No faults throne, skoda find no problems during servicing.

Just seems to be a feature of how these cars drive.

I also had this problem a couple of times, but only when using a certain supermarkets diesel (taps back pocket).

Try changing where you fill up, it might be that your car doesn't 'like' a certain brand.

Thanks for the interest guys. Seems to be that "skoda" way. I have been running it on shell but I might try a change and see what results I end up with.

i had a similar issue on my Fabia VRS 1.9 TDi PD (BLT engine code) on it, it was a feature of the cars EGR valve washers it turned out was flipping annoying but not everyone felt it as much as others all seemed to depend on driving styles.

Might be worth looking into that side of things I am sure ive heard someone mention it in here before with same thing for Fabia replacing washers with one with a wider hole would not totally solve but dramatically reduce it and Skoda was doing it for people I never bothered.

I'm having a similar problem to the one described by Grant above. Mine is a '06 2.0T fsi vrs. It has the stutter/misfire at 2/2.5k rpm. Just serviced it with new plugs so it aint them. Any suggestions ?
