What Car magazine - Trust Worthy?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just wondering what people think, its not specifically about Skodas, although there had been discussions on how much What Car hate Skodas.

My question comes in another form. I was just browsing to look at the Kia C'eed and Hyundai i30, as my brother is looking at a new car and you can get a brand new i30 for around £9k, which is too far for an Octavia to match.

What Car gave the Kia 5 stars, whilst the i30 only get 3 stars, citing boring handling etc, but no mention of this on the Kia. What's going on What Car? They are the same car, muppets.

Possibly because they are so trusted that everyone went on to buy Kia's, hence making the i30's seem good value. I prefer the i30 anyway, in the Korean car market, Kia is considered slightly lower rent than the i30, whilst Hyundai is the more luurious brand making this and this.

It all goes on who gives em more money for advertising. What Car? are known to suck up to advertisers. Always have done.

Ah, yes, you remind me of those "What Car Special Test" available in ALL good garages for FREE (VW got 3, I seem to remember, a on the Golf, 1 on the Polo and 1 on the Touran)

When the Felicia was first launched, they sucked up to Skoda big time, and every dealer got road test re-prints. Skoda at the time were throwing VW's cash about quite a bit, so what Car? were buttkissingly nice about the Felicia.

There is a lot of whatcar printout in dealer for best value small family car 2010 which was Octavia

I see money definitely comes into it.

I am not saying BBC is biased ;) but Clarkson's "unbiased" review of the car left something to be desired...

I am not saying the Yeti is not good, but comparing to a Range Rover...

Autocar make the point that the Kia and Hyundais do feel quite different and they have different model/engine pricing especially for the Picanto and i10.

Ah..the splendid "What Car" magazine..you know the one that is 50% the same every month...!...save your money..££

Only 50%, I would say closer to 65%. Makes a handy door stop though
