Engine Management Light

Featured Replies

Hi All,

This may have been covered before; but as a new member, I thought I would ask

I did the EGR conversion on Friday and fitted the 9mm gasket. Smooth running was a lot better. I drove to Bradford today and the engine management light came on; on the way home. I assume that it will have something to do with me fiddling with the EGR. Before I get ripped off at a garage, if the plug in system reads an error code message for the EGR, can the sensor be fooled into thinking that all is well, with the new gasket.

thanks

IIRC if you increase the gasket out to either 11 or 14mm this should cure the problem!

There's a thread covering the BLT stutter!

Drill the gasket to 11mm and it will be fine.

I did the 9mm gasket and the EML came on so drilled it to 11mm and it's been fine since.

yet when i 1st got my car (56 blt) i did the 9mm gasket replace and never got the eml on.

I've got the 9mm gasket on now...No light.

i fitted the 9mm gasket a few months back and done a couple of thousand miles now. This morning on the way to work the EML light came on.

I've had the egr valve off a while ago and cleaned it so I can't see it being clogged already.

I've heard some say you can fit an egr delete and have it mapped out on a BLT engine, where as others say it can't. Can anyone clear up if you can map it out as I'm very tempted to carry this mod out if this is going to be an often repair carried out on my car?

when i had my st3 done at jabba they disconnected my egr and its got no light on.
