Yeti 1.4 tsi

Featured Replies

I got it!

It is supersilent and beautiful  , but ... consumption is too high and the suspension too hard. I do not know why.

Consumption for my 1.4 TSI in the city is 11.5-12% (at 100 km). Now I have 1400 km and is the same. On the highway with the mounted luggage box, at the 100 km/h consumption is around 7-7.5% and at 120 km/h is 9.5-10%. Over how many km the consumption will start to decrease...?

The suspension is too hard. Every bump is felt strongly within and is not comfortable. Why? :(

Check the tyre pressures and check for transit blocks in the suspension on the front.

Last time I went to Romania the roads were awful. I hope they have improved. Saying that, it was supposed to be an off road cycle ride from Bucharest to Comanesti via the mountains emoticon-0136-giggle.gif. I did cycle down one that they had only just finished laying, it was raining and the road was still hot.....I thought my bicycle tyres were going to melt. emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Maybe in another 10,000 miles......for the fuel consumption to improve????

Check the tyre pressures and check for transit blocks in the suspension on the front.

The pressure was ok : 2.2 bar.

What is this: "transit blocks in the suspension on the front"?

Suspension is subjective thing, depending what you drove before. Yes, it is stiffer than my previous car, but for a high SUV car, its great.

COnsumption will go down after 2000km, but luggage box is to blame for higher consumption for sure.

My consumption went normal after 500km, but I decided to running the engine hard right after exiting Skoda dealer.

The transit block is something the dealer should have removed, they are used to support the suspension (ie making them stronger and much harder - like without suspension).

I asked the dealer and told me that Yeti does not come with something like that. Anyway I'll make a personal visit to convince me.

Those things can be viewed easily, just looking over the wheel?

They are blocks on the springs, a visual look would do.

I also found the Yeti quite bouncy when new, but after 5000 miles, it settled down quite a bit, and felt much better.

If your dealer doesn't believe Yeti's come with something like that, perhaps he wouldn't have removed them?

I do not know. I will see. I hope the suspension is stronger because of it, but do not know what to say....would be great to do it more comfortable.

My only experience of he Yeti was a test drive (where I was weighing up a finely balanced decision about getting one or a new Mercedes A Class). However having test driven a range of cars in this sort of area it did seem to me that stiffer suspension is a characteristic of most small/medium cars these days. I can only assume that the speed/performance capabilities of modern cars is such that stiffer suspension is regarded as desirable for cornering safety etc. Not necessary, however, for 'Driving Miss Daisy' types like me. :)

I used to drive a BMW 1 series with run-flat tyres and truly bone shaking suspension. The Yeti rides like an air cushioned limousine in comparison.

Yes? :giggle: I really feel better now. ;)

I suspect the Romanain spec Yetis will have a different suspension set up compared to our UK models.
