Increased Rolling Resistance?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I took my car in for a full service this morning. New pads all round, and new front tyres. On the way home I'm sure I felt like there was more resistance. When I took my foot off the accelerator it almost felt like I was braking lightly and my gf agreed with me.

Before I walk into the garage tomorrow, can anyone suggest what it might be? Could it just be the brakes bedding in, or slightly over adjusted? Or could I just be imagining it? The engine under tray had been miss fitted as well, and was scrapping on the ground...so it could well have been caused by this acting like an air brake. My MPG didn't seem to be that much changed though.

(this was a garage I have used in the past & do trust)

Cheers guys :)

depending on how worn your tyres were you may get a slight increase in resistance from the new tyres as there is obviously more rubber to dig into the road surface now but my personal bet would be tyre pressures being slightly low, 3-4 psi can have a major effect!
