4x4 vrs

Featured Replies

would the running gear of a 4x4 octavia bolt on to the vrs? as in rear axle/subframe gearbox ect? thanks

No the rear floor pan and suspension is totally different

is it? would of thought the floor plan are all the same then sub frames are differant?

yes it would, as would a ferrari engine if you spend enough time and money.

its not worth it, just buy a 4x4 and put vrs bits on.

No subframe on the back of an octy, different floor pan to mount the different suspension and driveline.

oh i see, cheers for the info

No probs :)

Best bet would prob be bolt all vrs bits to the 4x4 if possible always taught of doing this myself

why would you anyway???

buy a 4x4 and stick a vrs front bumper on and a vrs spoiler

and away you go!!!

Do what im intending on doing after ive finished my vrs diesel!

Get a 4x4, found a good one for around £1795

than a cheap or writen off VRS and swap the bits over.

Just trying to source a Audi TT 225, or S3 engine so when its remapped i should get more grunt than the standard vrs lump

Thats the plan anyway!

But im still looking at make my Diesel VRs 4x4 first!

its not sarcasm, i stated a fact... anything can be done

as put by other members (and myself) it would be easier to buy a 4x4 and put vrs stuff on.

you could also use the search as this has been covered before.

Or buy one already done for you....

Bit more to it than sticking a VRS bumper on though as Oet points out, from experience too, IIRC

a lot more than sticking on a bumper, i didnt say just put on a bumper (tho that would probably fool a lot of people). Fitting all the parts required tho is still much easier than fabricating a new floor pan to fit 4x4 drive stuff to a 2wd shell.

Not sure why people benchmark a vrs like its an integrale or something, a well modded 4x4 is an awesome car in its on right..the standard 4x4 is pony but once you have modded it like modra has you can have a very capable car, much more so than a stock or even lightly modded vrs.

Sorry , slightly misquoted you there, just trying to emphasis the extent of changes needed to a 4x4 and seem to recollect you had a modded one at some point.

Can say it is very capable all year round, especially in bad weather on snow tyres, but whether it's worth doing to a mk1 now is down to how much you love your car and how deep your pockets are.

no probs :) yes have had both a modded 4x4 and a modded vrs.

i do like your car by the way
