Engine Bay Plans

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone.

Once moved into my new house (end Sept) Ill be able to contiune tidying my engine bay on my vrs mk1 octy.

The car is black, with black spiders, with 210hp OBDworks Map, induction Kit, & Forge 007 dv.

As the car is black i want to keep engine bay black with a few, very few, litle skoda green flicks here and there.

I've had the rocker painted, and fitted a Genuine, Audi R8 Oil Cap. Today I'm picking up from my local VW garage motorpark, a new Cam Belt top cover (06A 109 108 K - £18.94) the old one is looking abit tatty, & a little mod i saw Rob do on his for the coil pack cables.(06F 971 824 C - £6.84)http://www.pimpmysko...ableConduit.htm So on/around the Rocker is starting to look half decent.

I've got some hose and t-pieces etc ready to fit a Oil Catch Can from Saikou Michi Once i have to money to order it :wonder:

After that is in & fitted, my next step is to Remove the SAI, N112 & N249 systems to free up abit of space. So i will be ordering a Forge Blanking plate kit at somepoint ready to that.

My plan is tidy up alot of visable OEM hoses Induction hose etc, so i was wondering after the SAI, N112 & N249 systems have gone. If i started buying hoses kits like, Forge Silicon Turbo Hose Kit 1.8T 180 http://www.awesome-g...d=6979&xSec=294

Forge Silicon Induction Hose 1.8T (later models) http://www.awesome-g...d=6976&xSec=294

Forge 7 Piece Coolant Hose kit For VAG 1.8T http://www.awesome-g...=13185&xSec=294

(Of corse all in black  ) Am I going to be wasting money on kits with hoses that i dont need because i have removed them??:dull:

i also want to polish manifild and spray throttle body black and maybe alternator too.

After that i would like some braied fuel lines etc and lil things to spice it up, Clean like haha!

Once i have figuered out how to upload pictures onto here a can a thread of my work?? is that possible? and how?

Any hints, tips, thoughts, help,

If you havn't guessed im a bit of a newbie lol

Cheers B)

black hoses would have been better

creation motorsport do them in black, red or blue ...

black hoses would have been better

they would have been black if i originally had them made for this car lol but they came of my black one wich i wrote off and so red it had to be lol

looked really good mind but yes black would have been ace!!

not bad consdering i got it all free ;-)

oh if that's the case, then

I have the creation breather hoses on mine, had to mod them abit to fit but they fit perfect now

Hi there buddy.

The plans that you have listed is pretty much most of what i have done.

I started with a std engine bay.

Fitted Upper /lower strut braces for starters

Then started changing hoses, nearly all of them.

Can get much cheaper ones than Forge to be honest

Then fitted Audi coilpack wiring heat shield

Then I started deleting parts like, SAI,N249,N112, simplifying breather system

Fitting Oil Catch Can.

Then polished Inlet manifold and CAI system

Then removed engine cover and cam cover and polished that

Then fitted coil pack retainers

Now i just keep it clean and maintain it, which does not take much

Here are a few pics.

@Bowders1

How did you get you get the casting marks of your mani? I remember you using a drill and attachment. Can't remeber what attachment though?

@missingmyvrs

I like the red! adds something different to the bay, if you had black you might as well just have the original piping.

My plans,

Samco's green pipes or maybe cheap pipes and find away to make them green

Spray rocker lambo green - done.

Remove the obvious bits (SAI, n112, n249 and so forth)

coilpack hold down/wire hiding

polish mani

polish starter

spray plastics in lambo grey

struts in lambo green

bonnet lifters - done.

Maybe R8 oil cap?

Green will look good against the black mate.

On the other hand less is more....whip engine out shave the bay and hide the wiring B):giggle:

Cheers :) just a shame only samco do it. I wonder if there is a heat shrink you can get that would fit over the pipes? So I can get cheaper pipes lol.

I would actually love to drop the engine out to clean it up. Don't have the time, the money or the know how though :(.

Have you tried the likes of

Roosemotorsport

Sfs

Viper

Creation

Even if they dont do off the shelf kits maybe they'd make one up?

Cheers for replys people.

But if i remove the SAI, N112 & N249 systems, will i be buying hoses that arn't there anymore from my list?

I have to admit although there are cheaper ones, Im very much a Forge or Samco Friend :giggle: is expensive but i like it. B)

Also just to keep u updated, asked a local polishers for a quote to polish my manifold up, and the said "Hard to say without seeing it but prob around £30-£40. Pop in with it and have a coffee with us" HAHA! Quite friendly be seems of things. The price seems ok though to me?????????

Also my coil pack cable tidy arrived along with the new top cam belt cover. Just need time/light to fit it. I thought it was summer??:D

How do you post pics on here anyways? I struggle with that!!

Hi Damian, I used a wire drill bit on end of drill to get the casting reasonable. Then used heavy wet/dry moving to medium and fine and then using autosol alloy polish.

Did this with the mani still on car, just covered engine area with blankets.

Have done a few for ppl on here though this is Andy68 one.

I got an evening with abit of time and no rain :smirk: so i fitted the new belt cover and the coil pack cable tidy. Took a hour mind cos it was quite fiddly, specially with my fat hands lol but it looks alot better/cleaner :)

Think polished manifold be next step and a VERY good clean in there :dull:
