Removing Combi tailgate inner panel

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I've got a 2008 Scout. It's developed an irritating rattle which I have traced to the inside of the bootlid. I guess either a screw or piece of trim has come loose and is now free to rattle and roll around the inner parts of the lid. I've tried a few tricks to get the inner trim off - to see if I can fish it out - to no success. Any ideas?

Thanks

Graham

Snap!

My Scout also developed a rattle behind the plastic on the boot lid.

I could hear whatever it was rolling up and down as I opened and closed the boot.

Just typical, when I took it in to Skoda for them to take a look it stopped! They were reluctant to take off the trim without first hearing the rattle for themselves as the mechanic said that the clips are very easily broken and if they break them they'll have to pay for the repair.

Luckily I persuaded him to take the plunge. With the boot open he got his fingers in between the plastic and the glass at the top of the window directly under the brake light and literally pulled it off. With the force he was applying as soon as the first clip detached the rest followed very quickly and loudly. None broke though!

The rogue rattle was one of the high level brake light lugs, no idea how it had happened but it had completely snapped off. The brake light wasn't loose though, strange.

A new high level brake light under warranty and now no rattle!

ThanksHi;remove the pull down handle, then gently but firmly pull the trim off starting at the bottom.Once it's clear enough to see inside use a wide bladed screwdriver to release the other clips, the plastic is a bit brittle.

Thanks both, that's great. Mine's out of warranty now (just expired in June, just before we did 3000 miles over to the French alps...when the rattle started) - I'll have a fiddle as you suggest and see what I can sort out.

Cheers,

Graham
