What oil is best to use with fabia 1.2 tsi?

Featured Replies

Im planning a long drive with my new fab and dont know what oil I shuld refill it with when required. After 1500km I am going to change oil too.

I have a old (unused) bottle with Shell HELIX plus 10w-40 semi-synthetic motor oil in my garage.. can it be used?

guess its no "use before date" on engine oil? even if the bottle is about 15 years old..

NO, NO, NO, NO and yet again NO. Read the manual.

1.2Tsi engines are using 5w-30 full synthetic oil complying to VW 504.00/507.00 specifications. You change them every two years, or 30.000Km - 18.000 miles, or when ever your car informs you if it is programmed to variable oil changes as QG1

You can also use 5w-30 full synthetic oil complying to VW 503.00/505.00 (previous) specifications. You change them once a year or every 15.000Km - 9.000 Miles. You use them only if your car is programmed for stable service intervals QG0 or QG2.

So you have to check your service book and see what kind of service intervals your car is programmed to, there is a sticker at first page. You can also find a sticker underneath trunk's carpet. Of course far and beyond the QGxx and VW specs oil's brand is your choice.

oh Thanx :)

But, I read something once that it was good to change the oil for the first time after about 1500km? after the engine have "run-in"? if there is any metal-spoon etc left in the new engine.. hmm

There is really no need to do this in this day and age.

Also is your fuelly figure correct in your sig? It works out to 5.8 MPG! :o

That's perfect. I concur with the guys, there is no need to change the oil at 1500kms. Factory fill should stay in until the first oil change interval as listed in the book, as this will help the engine to bed in. New oil will only hamper the process. There will not be any metal particulates in the oil, the filter wil deal with them all so don't worry.

Oki good :)

A mate of mine just changed the oil filter on his new Passat at 1000 miles and topped up the oil with 507.00.
