Door open sensor

Featured Replies

Hi, my door open (driver's door) no longer operates. Does anyone know where the sensor is? I still remember the days of simply "normally open" plungers but that was then...

All the other doors show open/closed as normal.

As a matter of interest, I've just had the window regulator replaced - could a bad garage job be to blame? Difficult to prove this, of course.

There is a microswitch in the door latch which operates this function and others such as interior lighting via the CCM. If the door has recently been apart, poor assembly is a very likely cause of trouble (B5.5 doors are a pig to work on). The microswitch connections also crack at their soldered joints due to very poor design.

Its actually a micro switch built into the door locking mechanism you may be able to get one of these from the likes of maplins (it is not available individually from Skoda you have to buy the complete lock) but it is not a pleasant job to repair - what I done with mine was to drill a hole lower down on the door just above the reflector where the door rises out take the wire down and put a toyota avensis one on works a treat and much easier to do

As Has been said it is inside the locking mechanism, I had the same problem with mine, only noticed it when lights on alarm didnt activated when door open, I found that If I pushed the locking mechanism, with a bit of lube, in and out when the door was open it would get it back working for a few days.

After getting fed up with of having to do this I looked at the price on a lock on E-bay at roughly £40 for a second hand one I deciede to empty a can of electrical contact cleaner in to the lock and see what happened, Make sure you use electrical contact cleaner as it evaporates off completely, amazingly It worked and (touch wood) had no probs since.
