glove box light

Featured Replies

how do i change the light in the glovebox not sure how too?

The bulb carrier is the lense as far as i can remember, just prize it out forwards and it will come free, then you can remove the bulb.

Be very careful that the light assembly does not come apart as you pull it out - it's a complete bugger to assemble...

VAG seem to be incapable of designing something which does a really simple job without using twice as many parts as is necessary. (Compare GM number plate lamps with those fitted to the Superb).

I thought i'd share my own experience - during the on-going water-ingress rectification project (still not finished but nearly there), one of the additionally annoying things was the removal of the glove box and the subsequent 'explosion' of the glove box light assembly. As others have mentioned, this over engineered gizmo is somewhat tricky to put back together particularly if you don't know what it looked like before starting the process. You would have thought that the reassembling of two plastic parts plus a spring and the bulb should have been pretty obvious. But no. However, for those who find themselves in the same predicament, this link to some handy photos might help.

Agree with that comment - fitted my own simplified design with a 'proper' microswitch. Net cost about £1....
