Mk5 rear benches are 10 a penny but I've got it my head that even that 5 door ones are different to the Octavia around the side bolsters / wheel arches. Hope I'm wrong, because that would make the whole thing much easier to achieve. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking much the same, but erring towards thinking it would fit. I suppose the thing to do would be find one available locally - then go along and size it up.

It'd have to be a GTI / R32 one though to get the nice headrests.

The rear bench is different, the bolsters are plastic on the Golf, just checked.

That a 5 door? I know they're plastic on a 3 door.

That's a mk6 5 door one. The side bolster bits are separate and fabric like the octavia but the shape is different. The standard octavia ones curve into the seats quite a lot and the seats have a curve to accomodate that. The golf ones are straight up and down. It MIGHT still work if you swap the bolsters too but I'm sceptical.

Which bit is plastic? I can't visualise what would be different, compared with the Octy.

The Golf back bench pictured won't fit, the side contour is totally different - it is vertical not sculpted as Nick says. Maybe with some work it might fit, but I don't see it being a straight forward swap.
