Fallen Fruit marks

Featured Replies

I need a little advice on cleaning some black marks off my body work.

My car was parked near a fruit tree for a couple of days while I was away. During that period (for whatever reason) a load of the fruit has fallen (not ripe) onto the car. It has left a load of black marks all over the bonnet and roof. I have given it an immediate wash but they are refusing to budge, I have gently scrapped at a couple of them with my finger nail and they do come off leaving no mark or residue.

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice regarding quicker ways of removing them, as it will take me weeks to do it all by hand. I can post a photo if that will help?

Many Thanks

Andrew

I would say get some sort of tar and bug remover, it's usually useful on all sorts of sticky residue (I've used my bottle of Simoniz on things like tree sap in the past and recently glue left over from external stickers with great results). As far as I'm aware it's not harmful to the paintwork at all and isn't strong enough to remove paint/clearcoat.

Great, thanks for the tip - hadn't thought about bug/tar remover. Now off to the shops to get some.
