Towbars

Featured Replies

I know theer have been several discussions on towbars previously, but I am looking to buy towbar for my VRS 2008 estate. I would prefer a detachable, the towbar only needed occasionally to tow trailer. If anybody has towbar fitted to estate and can recommend make etc and picture as well, would be appreciated. There are quite a few makes to go for :wonder: but bit concerned how they look when on/off the car.

Many thanks :)

I have a Westfalia detachable which I highly recommend. The electrics swing down from behind the bumper and the bar attachment is totally hidden. No point in photos as it is completely invisible when not attached. Expensive with proper electrics, but worth it.

Thanks for that  . Do they only make one detachable and any idea how much you paid? Did you have to cut the bumper much? Soz for all the questions. :wonder: Used a bypass kit on the vw touran I had before, worked well.

Not sure on the model but think they only do one detachable for the octavia. No cut is needed on the bumper as I had a small one from the factory which was big enough, either way, it's small and invisible unless you get down on the floor. Mine was a little more expensive than most as I opted for the proper electrics which turns off the rear sensors and adjusts the stability settings etc. Also had it supplied and fitted by a workshop which cost me more, but I wanted a decent job. It was about £500 in total.
