Been having a noise on my car for the last 3-4 months. Bit like a grinding/whirring noise when ever the steering wheel is turned any bit right.

I suspected a NS wheel bearing and so a trusted garage changed it but the noise was still there. They then said it was a gearbox problem.

With that news I took the car to skoda for there opinion. They decided that it was the NS wheel bearing and the first garage hadn't put it in properly. Again that didn't work and they too said it was the gearbox.

So with that news I bought a second hand gearbox off devonutopia and this week took the car up to unit 18 for them to fit it. Thoses guys checked it over, replaced a Cv joint which was damaged and also swapped drive shafts from another Fabia just to see if it was them. No joy. So Ali swapped the box, again no joy. So he concluded it must be the inner bearing on the OSF wheel. replaced that annnnnnd no more noise

Sorry for the long post, but so happy its fixed and i can enjoy driving it again. Something I haven't done for almost half the year.

So once again big thanks to Ali and unit 18. The 2.5hr drive was well worth it.

I bet you wish you took it straight to Unit 18 and had it diagnosed rather than paying the 2 other places and buying a gearbox, eh?

Still, we live and learn... I got sick of using local places, official dealers, big tuners and 'mates in the know', it's only ever cost me lots of dollar so now if there's anything wrong with the car I just do the 1.5 hour drive to Unit 18. It's annoying but less annoying than putting up with monkeys working on your car!

Yeah it is. I'm hopefully getting mine on Tuesday. My gearbox was removed too.

I certainly hope not...

I'm just having my LSD fitted, there's a slight problem with 4th gear but should be an easy fix
