Hairy moment!

Featured Replies

My regular drive into work takes me on a twisty moorland road, the A6033 between Hebden Bridge and Oxenhope. It's a good road with lots of long bends and good visibility, so when the traffic is light it's great fun to drive. So it was early this morning, just me up there and blue skies, dry road ... so I was blatting along a bit. There's one fast right hand bend in particular where I normally just ease off the accelerator to slow a little (no need to brake) as I enter, and foot back down about half way round. This morning got a bit of a fright; eased my foot off but the car just kept going flat out ... took me a moment to realise what was happening and step on the brake. I hadn't noticed that I'd left the cruise control switch on top of the stalk in the 'on' position. As I turned in to the bend and took my foot off the accelerator I simultaneously (hamfistedly) flicked the rocker button that 'sets' the cruise speed with my knuckles, and so no slow down. One of those 'time stood still' moments and a bit scary!

Bet that woke you up :)

Bet that woke you up :)

Well it woke my bowels up for sure :D

Thought you had run down a new age hairy in Hebden Bridge or a ewe up on the moors. :D

Bet Betty would have cruised round the bend no problem!

Glad hear you are still with us Steve and I have not read of the demise of a red Yeti driver in the Halifax Courier.

Sure you know what that road's like Peter ... over the course of most winters I see half a dozen cars off the road with wheels facing the sky when they've taken a bend too fast ... wouldn't have been going at that speed on a frosty morning for sure!

Well it woke my bowels up for sure :D

Hope you had your brown trousers on :giggle:

Well they weren't when he left the house....

I've done this too but only on the motorway. Have cruise on, accelerate past something and later you want to slow down and wham realise the car won't go below the set speed. :giggle: Not an issue on a motorway but in your case! Wow. But glad all ended well!

That's where the leather seats are SOOOOOOOOOO handy....... afterwards!!!!!

Hope you had your brown trousers on :giggle:

If they weren't brown before, they certainly are now emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Glad nothing untoward happened Bobdog. :)
