Sunset wasn't enough

I lived with the Sunset glass for 3 months but just had to do the job right

Sorry but I prefer the sunset to limo black (aka drug dealer tints), but how boring would it be if we all liked the same things in life :giggle:

I like the limo tints, really suit the car, good job :)

Yes, we can all see that!

Besides my corny comment: Nice color! It really looks ... Elegant.. despite not being an Elegance :giggle: (Sorry)

Indeed

You've forgotten the front windows ;-)

Got to agree with you on the tints, I didn't order the sunset glass for that reason. My car was having the limo tint done 2 hours after delivery.

Had blinds on my Octy and the darkness was just right (IMO) - personally think those are too dark but it's down to personal preference.

Will have sunset on mine when it arrives, should look ok - white with sunset glass?

Is that spray tint or film?

Its film, the company I went to did my previous car and that was as good 4 years later as the day it was done. They are not the cheapest but only use good quality stuff.

i got sunset on my hatchback, and i wanted darker windows than these sunsets.

when i ordered my car i thought these was darker.

then i just had to tint front windows, but now i have to tint all of them

No front door tinting allowed in UK any more. I know 1 country that won't even allow rear doors to be tinted. Looks awful and misses the purpose. Even saw a Hummer stretch limo with clear glass. Odd.

It's a cut throat business like most. My Superb cost less than my V50 cost 3 years ago. Same guy. Same quality.

Sunset glass is a waste of money IMO. I specced it and went to lengths to ensure with the dealer that it was proper dark as I sometimes leave sports kit in the back and didn't want little "darlings" peering in.

Couple to the the fact I have ivory leather and they may just as well be clear glass. Will get the tinted properly soon, although would've been cheaper to have had the plain and to have got them done after delivery.

Horses for courses really, I like the sunset glass and do not like limo tint.

The other beauty of factory fit sunset glass is your insurance company do not need to be notified as it is a factory fit item and not a modification, some insurance companies will charge a premium for additional tint added.

Admiral, still wanted to know about it - as it is a "Change from original specification, including factory options" - it's more expensive to replace, so must be declared on insurance.

I went with Skoda Insurance (Allianz) and was specifically told that ANY factory options do not need listing or declaring, yet another case of insurance company non standardization

Likewise when my heated windscreen had to be replaced it still only cost me £50 excess - as it would of it it had been a std non heated screen.

When you buy a s/h car you cannot be expected to know everything that was std spec and what was an option as they change them ALL the time often without prior notice.

Mines not g tints so I'll be having them done locall, I know they have 4 'shades' and am hoping they have something in between limo and sunset!

As for insurance I don't mind take then risk that they just replace with a clear glass and I have to have it tinted up again.

Most (as in non specialist) insurers will only replace any declared modified parts with OE std parts anyway, (you can get insurance from specialists who will replace 'like for like' however) but the problem comes if it is not declared - they can then quite rightly refuse to pay out on a claim.

Not sure about regulation in UK, but glass tinting is preferred option for me than darker factory glass.

1) I think all Skoda glasses are coming without UV protection or any kind of athermic glasses. You can choose tint film which allows UV protection and heat deflection and solve both problems.

2) All films provide some security protection. There are films which prevents glass breaking, but the are not very practical and nice as they are much, much more thicker. Beside that all films will protect from glass fragments in accidents.

3) You have broader choice of colors and effects, and you can doze darkness to your taste.

I'll post some pictures when I find them...
