Hello, picking Fabia VRS up tomorrow :)

Featured Replies

Hi, Im Adam. I'm trading in my Honda Civic Type R (EP3) tomorrow for an 06 plate Skoda Fabia VRS in silver. The Honda was getting to expensive to run, insure and with the tax due in a month and a few other problems that needed sorting i decided it was time to trade-in. The Fabia VRS has always caught my eye. The fact it can be remapped to 170bhp is appealing to me as its a lot cheaper to run yet still fun to drive, and not having to worry about the pennys as you plant your foot to the floor is a bonus!!

I'm not really planning on doing anything to it except the remap so won't be putting together any build threads, but found the forums very useful for my Honda, and this one looks just as good! :)

Thanks all. Got it home now. First thing was to change the head and side light bulbs.. Damn you need tiny hands!! Im impressed with the acceleration from 40 to 80, it certainly pulls. The MPG still hasnt settled down yet though and thats after 100 miles of driving!

Thinking of getting a Revo map done on it as a garage two minutes away from my house is offering this map at £200 plus VAT.. not bad! :)

If you want to keep the car, some advice from an ex Fabia vRS owner ( remapped).

Ask what the uplift for power & torque will be after map, over 90% of cars produced actually exceeded the claimed 130bhp / 240 lb ft torque when run as std on a rolling road.

Mine was 145.5 bhp, with 255 lb ft, & after an AMD remap was 180bhp & 299lb ft torque - it was outstanding, with no brake/turbo/suspension mods.( but if you tried to use this extra torque before the apex of a bend you will get serious oversteer)

It was found in the early days that of you put more than 300lb ft into the clutch, you will wear it out quickly with a large risk of clutch slip, the turbo also come under some heavy stress as well.

Hope this helps
