Cambelt snapped.

Featured Replies

The cambelt snapped on my fabia 1 vrs, last night.

I think the engine is knackered completely as there was oil leeking out on the floor, so iv possibly cracked the block!

Just considering weather its best to source a new block and put it in or break it for parts?

Any ideas will be welcome, or pics of changing an engine, ebay links to the correct engine as im not sure on the engine code.

First thing to do is to work out how knackered the engine really is.

Once you've done that, then yes sourcing a secondhand/recon engine is probably the best option for fixing things at a sensible cost.

Sounds awful mate. Can i ask how old the car was, milage, and how long it's been since you got the cam belt changed if any? Cheers.

Hi

Do you do your own repairs ?? As stated in a previous post take a look and see how bad your engine is.

Take out the air filter box to give you some room get a good bright lead light and look at the front and back of the block for a hole or a crack first. If you dont see any thig obvious then set to and whip off the cylinder head thats where your main damage will be.

Hope this helps
